"ParaKropolis" - Doomsday mood vs. social psychogram What happens when pure emotion meets melodic metal riffs and hard-core dubstep beats? Unthinkable? No - Herzparasit. With their third album "ParaKropolis", they present us an intense version of reality. Their lyrics not only call on the core of our being, our fears, but also expose relentlessly what is going wrong. The album's title is a neologism of the words "parapolis" (interculture) and "akropolis". Hence, the city or fortress of parasites arises. A metropolis of a species that wants to re-create our world. The earth of the Homo sapiens has imploded and destroyed itself. Hate, greed, envy, fear, violence and finally war have paralysed the world. The people's emotional coldness has destroyed everything. And that is where Herzparasit come in and try to rebuild. They land on this earth and try to create something new out of the ruins. They want to open our eyes to protect us against an apocalyptic scenario. Many have stopped defending themselves and have just accepted how things are, and now play a part in contributing to the destruction of this planet. Herzparasit bare their soul which results in a volatile mix of doomsday mood and social psychogram. Herzparasit as saviours of the world? No, but they give us a gentle kick in the right direction to not take everything as 'given'. The five musicians from Munich took their time for their third album incorporating a lot of influences and inspirations. Their sound has
changed, further developed. Powerful riffs, melodic-intensive emotional choruses and profound lyrics create an explosive overall impression. The title song "ParaKropolis" wears a doomsday mood and catchy electro rock sounds. The NDH stomper "Präparat" tells a sick love story. The songs "Ich" and "Vatermal" feature i. a.
pushing dubstep beats. There is a children's choir in "Blut lügt nicht", some kind of tribute to the main character of the TV show "Dexter". "Regentage" rounds out the album with gentle and melancholy sounds. Besides "Meine Träume jagen mir hinterher", there is a second song including English lyrics for the first time. "It must be in English" condemns, tongue-in-cheek, the unlimited proliferation of 'Denglish' in our everyday language. Herzparasit are not afraid to put emphasis on social and self-critical thoughts. They
not only point the finger at others, but also dig emotionally deep in their own being. "ParaKropolis" raises the mirror and reflects pure reality which is frightening and yet liberating. Hard-core, danceable and - above all - honest.
