about

The septet from Hanau (Germany) stands for high-quality premium Gothic-Metal with a closely atmosphere. With their newest work called “Sepia” Gates Of Dawn connected to their old traditions and proves a wide music production again. Sometimes metal sounds, sometimes dark rock tones or eerily beautiful music – Gates Of dawn dominates all facets effortlessly and puts their listeners into a dark journey.

The Opener of the album – “Serpent” – changes from an epic orchestral intro passage into a boom of atmospheric guitar riffs. Already on the first song, the vocal front in form of Matthias and Martina how beautiful they harmonize in a duet. After guitar-orientated songs like “Ferocity” the dark-quiet song “Isolated” shows the other side of the band and makes the listener exciting definitely. “Hypothermia” bangs with its rhythmic electronic lines into a dark-rock way. The same obtained on the stunning track “Titan (Lovers Of Saturn)”.The balladeer “The City Sleeps” lives up to it’s name and reveals as an emotional piece. In starkly opposite to this, the song “The City awakes” awakes the city highly energetic and in a very hymnal way based on effective synth sounds as well hard guitar tones. The album ends quietly again with the seeming-wonderful “…To Whom It May Concern” song.

Gates Of Dawn have created a reference with “Sepia” which stands in the same quality position as the prede-cessor “Lucid Dreams” did. The different sound structures make the album more varying and a must-have for fans. There is hardly a chance for a Gothic-Metal album to become more eclectic than this one. Every listener could take his own opinion by October 26th.
