"Dont Lose Yourself" is essentially a patchwork of verses with various meanings, all ultimately leading back to the core message of the piece: to stay true to oneself despite everything.

The first verse describes the introspection of a person with an obvious bipolar disorder, while the second verse deals with the destruction of dreams and illusions. The attempt to cleanse oneself by fleeing into the past and using it as a shield (Time Machine) is considered punishable (Five to Twelve).

All of this culminates in a chorus that simply wants to say: Despite extensive failure, never lose yourself.

The ironic reference to a homosexual "Romeo and Juliet" variant (Romeo loves Julio, oh no.) is aimed at what the lyricist perceives as an increasingly exaggerated and forced portrayal of diversity and sexuality in movies and series.

"Dont Lose Yourself" ist im Wesentlichen ein Flickwerk aus Versen mit unterschiedlicher Bedeutung, die dennoch alle zur Kernaussage des Stücks führen: Sich trotz allem treu zu bleiben.

Die erste Strophe beschreibt die introspektive Auseinandersetzung einer Person mit offensichtlicher bipolarer Störung, während sich die zweite Strophe mit der Zerstörung von Träumen und Illusionen befasst. Der Versuch, sich durch Flucht in die Vergangenheit zu reinigen und sie als Schutzschild zu nutzen (Time Machine), wird als strafbar betrachtet (Fünf vor Zwölf).

All dies mündet in einen Refrain, der einfach nur sagen will: Verliere trotz umfangreichen Scheiterns niemals dich selbst.

Die ironische Anspielung auf eine homosexuelle „Romeo und Julia“-Variante (Romeo loves Julio, oh no.) zielt auf die nach Meinung des Textdichters zunehmend überzogene und forcierte Darstellung von Diversität und Sexualität in Filmen und Serien ab.
