In Greek mythology, Nepenthes refers to a medicine that Helena, the wife of Menelaus, was given by an Egyptian queen and which, when mixed with wine, was supposed to eliminate suffering, chase away fear and sorrow and make all illnesses be forgotten.

With this in mind, the band set out to create music in 2021 that would bestow this effect both on themselves and, ideally, the interested listener. As a consequence, the album title of the debut is obligatory, catharsis is the goal. After almost two years of mutual inspiration and musical creation as well as personal ups and downs, an album has finally emerged that possesses both the distinctive style and the depth of content that a true music fan could wish for.

Emotionally charged, varied compositions with driving electronic beats, spherical synthesizers, fused with unmistakable guitar work - which is already considered the formation's trademark - are paired with the inevitable euphoria of a debut album to form an extremely unique mixture. The connection between music, text and voice can quite rightly be considered symbiotic.

Whether you are chasing after ghosts ("Hunting A Ghost"), dealing with earthly tribulations ("Transform The Urge") or ultimately assembling your lover from corpse parts à la Frankenstein and bringing them to life ("Hayley"): the lyrics of the album are essentially inspired by black romanticism with motifs such as suffering, violence and death, the dark side of the psyche, abysses. And their numbing through intoxication, excesses, music, art.

Nepenthes bezeichnet in der griechischen Mythologie eine Arznei, die Helena, die Ehefrau von Menelaos, von einer ägyptischen Königin bekam und die, dem Wein beigemischt, Leiden beseitigen, Angst und Kummer verjagen und alle Krankheit vergessen lassen sollte.

Mit keiner geringeren Intension machte sich die Band 2021 daran, Musik zu kreieren, die sowohl ihr selbst als auch bestenfalls dem geneigten Hörer diesen Effekt bescheren sollte. Der Albumtitel des Debüts ist als Konsequenz obligat, Katharsis das Ziel. Nach fast zwei Jahren gegenseitiger Inspiration und musikalischen Schaffens sowie persönlichen Höhen und Tiefen ist schließlich ein Werk entstanden, das sowohl den markanten Stil wie auch die inhaltliche Tiefe vorweisen kann, die man sich als wahrer Musikfan wünschen darf.

Emotionsgeladene, abwechslungsreiche Kompositionen mit treibenden elektronischen Beats, sphärischen Synthesizern, verschmolzen mit unverkennbarer Gitarrenarbeit - was schon als Markenzeichen der Formation gilt - paaren sich mit der zwangsläufigen Euphorie eines Erstlingswerks zu einer äußerst eigenständigen Mischung. Die Verbindung von Musik zu Text und Stimme darf mit gutem Recht als symbiotisch gelten.

Ob man nun Geistern nachjagt („Hunting A Ghost“), sich mit irdischer Drangsal auseinandersetzt („Transform The Urge“) oder sich schließlich die Geliebte à la Frankenstein aus Leichenteilen zusammensetzt und zum Leben erweckt („Hayley“): thematisch bewegt sich das Album im Wesentlichen im Bereich der schwarzen Romantik mit Motiven wie Leid, Gewalt und Tod, der dunklen Seite der Psyche, Abgründen. Und deren Betäubung durch Rausch, Exzess, Musik, Kunst.
