Vortex

about

The second single from VIRTUAL PERISH's upcoming album "Infernal" is titled "Vortex". This song takes the greek legend of Scylla and Charybdis from the Odyssey and uses it as an allegory about depression …

A ship captain tries to overcome these two monsters, which represent both the darkness of the world, as well as the darkness within oneself. One sails to "the edge", which was originally believed to be the edge of the world, but is here an allegory for natural death. One contemplates suicide to avoid the darkness, ultimately jumping and not succumbing to death at the hands of the two monsters.

Penumbra Child graces us again with her vocals in the chorus and gives the song the melancholic note it deserves. The bridge is a spoken theatric part in three languages (representing the languages of the three cultures we come from in the band), all aboard the ship with different perspectives on the situation.

An emotional performance from all band members that perfectly closes the upcoming album.
