Tearing The BlackBox (TTBB) is an alternative indie band formed in 2022 by Canadian musician and producer Kelly Cook and Dutch musician and producer Frank Weyzig. Cook, formerly of the band Moev, and Weyzig, of Born For Bliss and Vaselyne, first met in 1989 while touring the United States with their respective bands, Moev and Clan of Xymox. Though they lost touch over the years, the two reconnected and decided to collaborate on new music.

Due to the distance between them, Cook based in Vancouver, Canada and Weyzig in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the band had to rely on sending audio files back and forth over the internet to work on their music. What started as a fun project quickly turned into a full-fledged album, set to release later in 2023. To build anticipation for the album, TTBB has so far released several EPs of which “Now” is their current Single…

TTBB's music is defined by its innovative blend of alternative and indie sounds, characterized by its emotive and thought-provoking lyrics, intricate instrumentation, and dynamic production, drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres and influences. With Cook and Weyzig's decades of experience in the music industry, they bring a wealth of knowledge and skill to the table, making Tearing The BlackBox a band to watch in the alternative indie scene.

"Tearing The BlackBox is a project that is very close to my heart. The overall concept behind it is that of exposing and revealing the truth. The BlackBox, in this context, represents the unknown or the hidden, and by breaking open the box, we can uncover what lies within. In today's society, it can be difficult to distinguish fact from fiction, especially with the proliferation of disinformation on the internet.

We are constantly bombarded with information and it can be overwhelming to try and navigate through it all. Tearing The BlackBox is our way of cutting through the noise and bringing attention to what is truly important. We want our music to speak for itself and to be a reflection of the truth. Our goal is to use our platform to create awareness and to inspire change. We believe that music has the power to bring people together and to create a sense of unity, even in the face of adversity.”
